Disney over the next 10 years
Albeit Disney has not built a major theme-park for over the last 10 years, it has experienced growth in other areas. Available data underscores growth both in timeshare and Disney resorts.
Although timeshare sales have cooled recent years, the last 10 years have been quite amazing. Disney also saw tremendous growth of 13% to 28,267 hotel rooms including the Pop Century Resort. Disney Vacation Club rooms soared to 5,000 units up to 141% including Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Sratoga Springs Resort & Spa.
Over the last 10-year forecast that was submitted to Orange County by Reed Creek, their project-maximums included the possibility of a new theme park for Disney. Unfortunately, that did not occur.
For the next 5-years, the semi-autonomous government Reedy Creek, does not show any new theme-parks in it's project maximums plan. However, Disney may add a new theme park within the next 10 years. Most of the projects from Reedy Creek are estimates but may not reflect the internal workings of Disney World.
Reedy Creek project plans over the next ten-years looks very bright with a project increase in hotel rooms and timeshares. If projections are correct, hotel rooms would increase to a maximum 11,300 up 40% and timeshares to 8,900 rooms up 178%.
As far as future growth is concerned, project maximums submitted by Reedy Creek for new development on the retail district West side of Disney include the much sought after Flamingo Crossings. These new value-oriented lodgings will account for both 74% increase in restaurant business, 19% for new time shares and 42% lodging hotel rooms.
If Disney's dreams do come true, they may use the rest of the undeveloped 2,700 acres or 40 square miles owned today by the entertainment giant.
