German shipyard begins building Disney Dream
The much anticipated Keel Laying of the Disney Dream ship begins in Germany.As the construction of the new Disney Dream Ship begins to take place at the Meyer Werft ship yard Papenburg, Germany, scores of people observe as the first block of the ship is christened.
At this very special occasion, Karl Holz, President of Disney Cruise line speaks at the beginning of the Keel Laying:
"As the first block is lowered into place, a special coin is placed under the Keel of the ship for good fortune during upcoming seafaring adventures."
Disney selected a very talented member of the Disney crew, Captain Tom Forberg, who was given the honors of placing the Dream coin on the Keel.
Forberg, the first crew member hired to participate in the launch of the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, has a distinguished maritime career aboard Disney Cruise Line,
Forberg was named as the future Master of the Disney Dream.
We are witnessing months of planning and preparation coming together and now we have reached a significant point that is allowing this amazing ship to begin to take shape said Karl Holz.
Finally the ships sections are coming together to fulfill a dream that many have waited for. Boasting double capacity of Disney's cruise Lines, this ship will be the most innovative and unique ships ever built afloat The Dream will be an escape for family's to begin exploring their dreams to come true said Karl Holz
With both of these new floating wonders, Disney will bring the Disney Experience to more people than ever before more place around the world
Families will now be able to visit destinations that were not possible prior to the construction of these cruise liners that they only dreamed of
So now let the Disney Dream begin..
