Universal Travel Insurance

These are remarkable times, and with them comes remarkable and innovative marketing tools. One such tool is the new Travel Insurance introduced by Universal Studios. Travel insurance offers new protections against layoffs when guests purchase certain packages from Universal.

Now when a traveller books a three-night or more package with Universal Studios, this vacation stimulus tool guarantees clients a refund if they cancel due to a lay-off from their employment. Stimulus packages only are valid if a customer books by June 30 for a stay through October 8, 2009.

Universal which as sold vacation travel insurance in the past, is now proposing involuntary job-loss coverage for the first time in theme park history. Universal is understood to be the No. 2 theme park next to Disney World.

Today it's common for both car makers & time-share companies to use these tactics during a struggling economy to boost consumers confidence to start spending again. Unlike, Universal, Disney also offers travel insurance against job-loss however, the insurance is not free in any of it's packages. Likewise, Seaworld allows consumers a full refund if they book directly and cancel 72 hours before check-in.

Since consumers have cut back on travel & spending, and attendance at the Universal Studios park has declined some 14%, some think this is a great marketing tool for Universal. In the unlikely event that a customer gets laid-off from their job, most travelers will probably travel anyhow reducing the liability on Universal.

Another smart move by Universal is the newest promotion where a family booking 4-nights or more at their resorts, will receive a "kids free package" for ages 3 - 9, unlimited theme-park admission and travel insurance free.

Tough times require some risk in the theme park business, and Universal is taking some.
