New president for Visit Florida

Ever wonder where your state dollars are being spent? Recently, Visit Florida had a board meeting to remove the former president Bud Nocera CEO. Universal Orlando rep is behind a push to elect a new president instead of the no. 2 staffer, chief operating officer Chris Thompson.

Since Nocera was fired without cause, state subsidized tourism-marketing agency Visit Florida's executive committee recommended a $537,000 severance package on the way out. In order to insure continuity in the organization, chief marketing officer Richard Goldman from Amelia Island recommended elevating Chris Thompson to the job.

Both economic woes and budget difficulties mandated that Chris maintain his current salary with only a limited one year contract. With that said, national sales director Tammy Gustafson seemed to be in favor of an executive search long term but would allow the appointment of Christ on a temporary basis to replace Nocera.
