Future World Epcot

Divided between both Future World & World Showcase, Epcot® is one of the largest theme parks that boasts over 300 sprawling acres of amazing entertainment. Walt Disney's concept of the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow (EPCOT) embodies the ideas of a community built on new ideas and technology from American industry. The city of tomorrow would be a small self-sustaining community which would continued to showcase new technologies. Although Disney never enjoyed seeing the fruition of EPCOT, Celebration in Kissimmee is a urbanized prototype of that design. Instead managing a city, EPCOT was built 1994 to continue the spirit of Walt Disney's vision of a EPCOT city.

The main gate of EPCOT, is back-dropped by a large sphere fashioned as a futuristic spaceship. EPCOT guide maps are available immediately after entering the turnstiles. Guests are immediately attracted to the huge sphere home to the Spaceship Earth attraction. Guests are transported through space & time on a omnimover vehicle that merges the history of past to the present on this 16 minute trip. The present covers roughly 40,000 years Audio-Animatronic scenes of man's past as he evolved to today's technology. The omnimover ascends at an angle which is a little nauseous features scenes depicting Egyptians, roman empire, Renaissance period, medieval times, man's greatest inventions right into the future. Rides can create their own futuristic world by programming the on board computer. Later the computer creates a world that you design using the guests images. From there guests can go directly to Project Tomorrow featuring Inventing the Wonders of the Future. Best suited for children, theme offers an interactive play area for kids of all ages replete with challenging games, informative displays showcasing modern technologies in transportation, medicine, and energy management.

Innoventions East is a fun pavilion with a plethora of activities from wacky houses to problem solvers, waste management to robotics. We were inspired with WM unique ideas how to convert waste into reusable energy. An attraction for all ages, guests compete against each other through a series of challenging games. We were challenged to recycle, reduce and reuse "virtual trash", then we created alternate forms of energy that could fuel homes in the community. Innoventions also offers Storm Struck , The House of Inventions, and The Test Limits Lab.

One of the largest shops in EPCOT is Mouse Gear featuring a wide variety of Disney paraphernalia. Make sure to observe the gears behind the sign at the front of the shop. Be careful because it's easy to spend an hour in this shop which offers Disney merchandise including Men's, women's and kids' apparel, Pin Trading pins, Souvenirs, Plush toys, Food & candy, and Epcot theme park logo items.

Released in 1999, GM designed and sponsored the Test Track where guests could view it's manufacturing process and participate in a authentic test of their automobiles. Instead of test dummies, six guests strap into a futuristic, high-octane thrill ride taking it's passengers through a series of prototype tests. As one of Disney World's fastest rides, the queue leads guests through a test facility filled with robotic devices. There GM showcases it's latest sports car, manufacturing, and vehicles test systems. Two queues lead passengers to a briefing room to discuss 5 vehicles tests that they will be subject to. Strapping into the test car, the light changes to green and the prototype accelerates at lightening speed. After the uphill climb, guests are subject to brake tests, anti lock test, bump tests, curve testing and then finally bank testing at speeds up to 60mph. Lastly, guests finish their tour by viewing some of GM's late model vehicles for sale.

If Gary Sinise is you favorite ComCap, you'll love Mission Space. The attraction features a flight simulator that allows guests to experience the same sensation a pilot would feel in an actual launch. There are two missions one of which includes a centrifuge and a less intense mission that I choose. Our mission took us to the planet mars, you'll need a commander, pilot, engineer, and
After a short briefing, guests enter the training vehicle. strap in and get ready for a launch. Large G-force press your face and then a feeling of weightlessness. If you have claustrophobia, this ride is not recommended. Each team member has a responsibility at the controls to help make the mission successful. Several calamities occur including avoiding collision with asteroids, crash landing, and near drop off the edge of a cliff. You'll be anxious to get off this baby, trust me.

One of the most mesmerizing traveling entertainers were the Jammitors. This trio of talented musicians, performed live percussion with their cleaning and maintenance equipment. Equipped with garbage cans & covers, trowel shovels, cleaning buckets and a drum set made of cleaning equipment, these lively put together a percussion show second to none. After a standing ovation, we asked one of the Jammitors which restaurant he recommended, he said try the Electric Umbrella Restaurant offering burgers, chicken, salads, and beverages.
