A Trip To Sea World

I rolled out of bed Saturday morning, made a cup of coffee and had a seat out on my back porch. As I was taking in the fresh air of a spring morning, my wife popped her head out of the sliding glass door and smiled. I instantly knew what she was so happy about, we were going to one of our most favorite parks today; we were going to Sea World! So, we grabbed the sunscreen and the camera and out the door we went to start on our day of fun in the sun.

Much to our dismay, we heard a weather broadcast that said that there was a good chance that it would rain, but we decided that no matter what the weather conditions may be, it would not rain on our parade. Luckily, it was one of those rare occasions that the weather person was wrong in their forecast and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful days ever.

As we made our way through the turnstiles at the main entrance, we were greeted with the lively sounds of reggae music that seem to set the visit in motion. We swung over to the information desk to get a map to ready our plan of attack. My wife study the park map intensely for about a minute, lifted her head, looked left then right and determined that the best way to go was to the right. This way, we can move in a fluid clockwise motion, see everything along the way and end up right back where we started from. I thought about it and I believe that we could have started to the left, but I didn’t say anything because, after all, she is the boss.

The first place that we stopped was the dolphin exhibit. In the pool swam about five dolphins, which occasionally popped the top on their heads out of the water to catch a breath of air through their blowholes. One of the cutest things of the exhibit was a little dolphin calf, swimming right along the side of its mom.

We made our way to the next stop on our trip, a ride that was not there the last time my wife and I were at Sea World, Wild Arctic. Wild Arctic is two different types of journeys. You can either take a helicopter ride over the Arctic Circle, or you can strap on your snow shoes and trek across the tundra. Whatever path that you choose on Wild Arctic, you will be sure to have a magnificent journey over the environment. You will witness polar bears frolicking in the blanketed white snow; you will see gigantic ice glaciers crumble into the ocean and a slew of other amazing things that you can only see in the Wild Arctic.

After our trip through the great north, we headed next door to Shamu Stadium to watch the Believe. Believe is an amazing experience that showcases Orcas, or Killer Whales, and their trainers performing fascinating feats that will keep you captivated the entire show. My wife and I were absolutely amazed with the interaction and trust that was shared between the whales and their trainers. It was positively breath-taking. This is a must see show whenever you decide to take a trip to Sea World.

Another great show that we love to go to when we visit SeaWorld is the zany Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island. Share in the laughs when Clyde and Seamore help their human counterparts find the treasure that is buried somewhere on Pirate Island. You would think that it would be too hard to find the treasure with a map, but as the hijinks ensue it is the sea otter that really “steals” the show. This show is really funny, my wife and I laughed the entire time. We even laughed before the show started because there was a mime dressed in pirate garb that mocked everyone that walked by him. He had the whole stadium chuckling. Like believe, this show is also a must see when you are at the park.

My wife and I absolutely love to ride roller coasters and Sea World has one of the most exhilarating roller coasters in the Orlando area, the Kraken. The Kraken will take you on a wild ride through twists, turns and loop-the-loops that will have you screaming in excitement the entire ride. The harness drops down over your shoulders and just before you are about to take off, the floor drops out from underneath your feet and you legs are left dangling for the rest of the ride. We had such a great time on the Kraken and I would highly recommend a ride on this guy for anyone who thinks that they are the adventurous type.

Sea World is a great park to bring the family for a day of adventure, fun and education. In fact, a trip to the Orlando area would definitely be incomplete without a trip to Sea World.
