Capone's DInner & Show Cabaret

With all the glamor of a New York style cabaret, Capone's transports you back to an era of gangsters, the mob, bootlegging, prohibition, and lawlessness. Capone's offers a delightful mixture of featuring comedy, song, dance, and theater. Capone's is a place where cast members are blunt, rudeness and innuendos are common place.

While approaching Capone's speakeasy and cabaret, the large sign bares the icon of a large white hat with a pink band around the center worn by Capone himself. With it's green ceilings and pink walls, it reminds you of a bygone era of the 30's & 40's where the Italian mafia ruled parts of Chicago with their speakeasy clubs.

Guests begin to lineup along the outside queue in anticipation of an Italian atmosphere days-gone-by filled with dancing, blonds with short hair cuts and men of a base sort. As you stand under the queue, the notorious George Clarence Bugs Moran cases the joint with white shoes, pinstriped suit and a white hat with a pink band. "Hey", he shouts out the guest, "get ya ticket foist, den get in line."

As you approach the ticket box, it brings memories of prohibition, where the sale of liquor was illegal, and clubs required VIP status. "Knock on the door two times, and give the secret password two cherry cokes" says the nervous eying clerk.

Suddenly, there's a loud rude shout from the other side of the door, "knock on the door knuckle head!" Knock, knock, "waz da passwad" "two cherry cokes" we shouted, door opens, "stand ova heah Einstein so we can take ya mug shots."

Getting to the table the gal says "you's sit heah so you's can stuff ya face!" Inside, the joint, guest see long tables of hungry guests gorging themselves with a scrumptious home cooked Italian meal Capone style. Heading over to the large banquet table, one of the burly, chisel-faced unshaven cigar smoking bouncers says, hey knuckle heads, can't ya see der is two lines, hello?"

We grab some plates in anticipation for some mouth-watering grub. Check out this line-up, green salad, linguine with sauce, steaming mash potatoes, large chunk of turkey, piping hot green beans, lasagna, vegetable roast beef medley, and pasta primavera salad. With plates overflowing, guests head back to their tables in the dark, boisterous, lawless, speakeasy theater.

"First time here" says another embattled guest sitting at the table. Fortunately, they put us at the head of the table but with stage side visibility comes trouble I thought to myself. So close to the stage can make you a involuntary casualty if ya know what a mean.

Suddenly the curtain open and out comes a rather voluminous women Al's gal Ms. Jewel appears out with her opening act informing the audience that tonight's show is a hilarious sequel after 16 years of service. Next she introduces "Bags & Bubbles", two thin barely dressed show girls with short curly hair reminiscent of the times.

Between heaps of delicious lasagna, gulps of cherry coke, the infamous gangsta "Fingers Salvatorio" comes out bursting into Ms. Jewels act. He just was married with the well know Bunny June who says that her husband is a no good, gun-totting, lazy, chisel-face crap player.

Our 6 foot 7 inch waiter introduced himself as "tiny." "Gimme da plate" says the ill-mannered gruff waiter, "and get yourself some more grub." As he placed the fork in front of my wife I said to him "hey wiseguy where ya manners?" he respond, shut up or I'll fork ya!

It's a blast from the past at Capone's speakeasy Dinner & Show as your eyes wander taking in red tables, green walls, VIP section and a second floor balcony. Actual memorabilia mug shots of Al Capone loom on the green walls bringing an authenticity to the joint that maybe the real Al Capone is somewhere in hiding.

Gals from the 30's come on staged dressed in skimpy black & red outfits sporting black hats. As they sing "get yourself an old man" song, the blond Bunny June clearly stands out as the star of the show. As the storyline goes, Bunny June lived in brooklyn NY when Fingers discovered her and quickly got married. What he didn't know was that Bunny June & her sisters were stars part of a Fruit Broadway Review. Now her sisters want to come to Chicago to live with her and she has to break the news to her newly-wed husband who shoots craps instead of being gainfully employed. Frank Sinatra is not able to debut in Chicago so Bunny June Salvatorio and her sisters will debut in their one-of-a-kind Fruit show.

But real the star of the show is the wiseguy gun-toting, cheating, chisel-faced, womanizing, lawless "Bugs Moran" who controls the north side of Chicago. Before the show, Fingers had put a nickle in the parking meter to avoid towing Bugs Moran's vehicle. Bugs tells the audience that Fingers owes him money. Several gun-chasing scenes create an adventure second to none at Capones Cabaret Dinner & Show.

Capone's features a host of different shows including a New Years Eve party, Valentines Day, Thanks Giving and Christmas. Capone's Cabaret offers fun for all occasions including special events on Halloween, Superbowls, and other national festivities.
