Universal Studios recession fear factor
Hard hit by the recession, Universal Studios is forced to shut down certain attraction in order to maintain its balance sheet. Cost-cutting steps resulting from the economy will occur accross both parks including Fear Factor which will close after 3 1/2 years.
The NBC grossed-out based reality show will reopen in spring even though a specific date has not been set. Limited hours of shows and attractions at Orlando Studios & Islands of Adventure will begin on the weekend said Tom Schoder.
Attendance will determine which shows & attractions are closed which will be basically transparent to the guests. Making the decision to shut down Fear Factor came on the heels of layoff of 70 employees.
