Reach for your dreams at Disney Academy

Disney Dreamer's Academy is building confidence in many high school students who attend schools like Dr. Philips. Krista's for exaample, is not only dreaming about how to improve her life, but also how she can make an impact in the world she lives in.

Over 100 teenagers gathered at Disney's Epcot Center on Friday for 2nd annual Disney Dreamers Academy. This program helps students in their career path to pursue their goals and gives them exposure.

This four-day event which begins on Thursday and ends Sunday was organized by Disney and comedian Steve Harvey. Event includes celebrities from sports media & business worlds, theme-park outings, live-music events, and career workshops.

Many from last year's program are now participating in academic programs and pursuing other plans to start their own business or begin college said Lara Montilla director of Disney multicultural and resort marketing.

Among 4,000 applicants, panel of judges chose the year's finalists providing students with a chaperon and accommodations. Many of these students had written essay describing their personal problems that were beyond belief. Disney Academy will give these students confidence to be successful regardless of obstacles. They teach that you don't have to be a victim of your environment.

Harvey, a stand-up comedian who worked his way from the bottom, enjoys sharing his success story with the students and discussing their struggles.

Harvey says a man without a dream perishes, hopefully he can save some before it's too late.
