American Idol tunes up at Disney
Disney is piloting it's soft-opening of the new American Idol at Hollywood Studios in preparation for a Feb 14, 09 debut. Capturing the vibe, energy and look of America's favorite show, Disney is winding up for televisions most-watched experience.
American idol will feature many of the much-loved aspects of the famous television broadcast like "the mean judge Simon", auditions, and an opportunity to be a contestant on the real American Idol.
From age 14 plus years, visitors can request an audition where they will sing a song of their choice a Capella in front of a producer. Producers will be looking for diverse musical talent among the contestants.
Contestants will perform in Hollywood Studios 1000-seat Superstar Television Theater completely remodeled for the American Idol debut. Fully equipped with a signature design by Andy Walmsley, set offers new seats, carpet, audio-system, Coca-Cola product and trick stage.
With small adjustments, Disney preliminary offer will be seven shows about 25 minutes a piece. Winners will compete in that days finale and then will be given a fast-pass to audition in the much-loved TVs American Idol.
Disney has selected a cast of judges similar to the TV version with characteristics including the hip music insider, a sympathetic one, and a rude tell-it-like-it-is impersonation. One difference, Disney does not plan on auditioning so-called train-wreck contestants in order to maintain it's image.
