Pleasure Island closure causes City Walk to shine

Universal's City Walk is celebrating it's 10th anniversary with fireworks as the last standing entertainment venue for adults in Orlando. Closing most of it's bars, the Downtown Orlando's Pleasure Island is undergoing a complete makeover with a completion date soon to be announced.

Church Street Orlando, the area's nightclub disctrict continues to experience difficulties during the current recession. IceBar Orlando with it's 35-person cover charge is expanding its operation with a new venue called Pointe Orlando projected for International Drive.

Meanwhile, all of CityWalks bars, restaurants and attractions remain in full swing during the remaining days of 2008 including some new restaurants and the Rising Star night club emerging as a popular attraction.

Business remains vibrant and resilient during one of the most extraodinary times in history. The tourist distric's strength depends on Universal's ability to attract business during the day and CityWalk drawing partygoers in the evening
