Tampa Bay Rays World Series
Tampa Bay Rays beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2, Thursday night and World Series is tied at one win each on the second night.
Fans screemed as two runs came across the plate in the first inning.
But this time it was scored by the Tampa Bay Ray and not Philadelphia. Fighting hard, the Rays got their runs on a walk, a hit, an error and 2 outs.
Tampa then added a run in the second inning on 3 singles to score up 3-0. On the fourth inning, they had a final run come in on a bunt and 2 singles hits.
Philadelphia finally got 1 run in on the 8th inning on a home run into the left field. Stand by pinch hitter Eric Bruntlett hit a power ball. Other run came in on the 9th inning on a double including a Tampa Bay fault.
Although the Phillies outhit Tampa Bay in game 2, (9 to 7), they continued to fight to get their hits with their runners in scoring position.
Philadelphia manager Charlie Manual said it was a problem to leave 11 runners on base to only 4 for the Rays. He was concerned then hitting with men on the base. "We got behind early and we had a hard time catching up and we didn't execute" said Chalie Manual.
The crowd was absolutely electric on Thursday night, it's what they dreamed of doing as kids. It was extremely exciting," he said. "It's an exciting time in our lives and we're trying to enjoy the moment."
The Tampa Bay Rays have some extra time to enjoy the victory, as the series does not resume until Saturday night in Philadelphia, where games three, four and five will be played.
