Carnival increases fuel fee
After charging additional fuel fees to travelers, Carnival Cruises promised to refund these fees in the face of higher fuel prices. Now Carnival is threatening to charge these fees to all future customers. Higher prices will begin on all bookings after April 21, 2008.
Due to higher fuel costs, Carnival will increase the levied price from $5.00 to $7.00 a day with maximum charges increasing from $70 to $98 a day. Carnival also indicated that they will charge a $2 supplement a day up to $28. Maximum fuel charges for each cabin will double to $280. Discount Carnival Cruise reservations can still be booked with Total Destination Travel.
Increases maybe the result of an Florida investigation into the surcharge by Atty. Gen. Bill McCullum. The biggest concern was not the surchage itself but that customers are now aware of the purpose of the surcharge.
