blasting off at the KSC with the kids, by L.D.
It was a beautiful day as the Dower family set out to see Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, just north of Cocoa Beach. We are looking forward to a good day, it was recommended to us by Billy Boys Tickets in Kissimmee (they do the best deals on tickets, we saved over $25 off the gate price). We entered the visitors center and joined The Kennedy Space Center Tour.
Our first stop is at the 60-foot tall LC-39 Observatory Gantry it gives you a great all-around view of the historic Launch Pad 39A, 39B, the Vehicle Assembly building, and the tractor path of the crawler when the orbiter is transported to the launch complex. Next we set off for the cafeteria where the children had a decent lunch and we felt satisfied.
It is possible to visit Cape Canaveral Air Force base in the same day and this is very interesting, they have a display of old rockets dating back to the very first military strike missile. Both tours took us much of the day and on the way back down the Beechline we found a lovely Catfish restaurant and had supper before we set off home for the day!
