Thoughts on MGM, by L.D.

The rides are all themed around famous movies such as Star Wars, E.T. , Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Honey I Shrunk the Kids - just to name a few. MGM Studios is such a fun place to see, because it shows you how movies are made, what goes into the production of a major motion picture, and there are even tours that take you on the backlot of actual movie and t.v. sitcom sets. The restaurants are really cool, themed around movies and different eras, like the 50's Prime-Time Cafe, and Hollywood and Vine. Walking down the streets of MGM Studios makes you feel like a Hollywood Star yourself.

I went to MGM Studios with my family last weekend and the lines were short, the rides were thrilling, and the atmosphere was very cool. We went from Disney's Magic Kingdom to Epcot, to MGM Studios all in one day. My favorite ride at MGM Studios is actually the Aerosmith Rock N Rollercoaster. It is a really fast, thrilling ride where you are in a stretch limo that blasts Aerosmith music in your ear and takes you on twists and turns that you wouldn't believe. I loved the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but my wife was grumpy, and had issues with her head bouncing in between the head cushions, leaving her with a headache almost every time. Now on to The Tower of Terror, it is also a thriller.

I know everyone loves a good scare sometimes but when you want some thrills and chills, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at MGM Studios is the place to go! This terrifying trip starts in a dusty hotel lobby that sets a perfect atmosphere for what's yet to come. You are suddenly plunged into darkness and then led to an elevator that guides you through one of the creepiest hotels you've ever seen! They're not done with you yet, though. Not even close. As you ride through the hotel, you're treated to ghostly images of past lives.

Suddenly you are falling at a speed you can only imagine, as the elevator falls. They keep the scares coming with a series climbs and falls that will keep you on your toes. Finally, you are set free in a dark hallway to meet up with those who were either not able to get on the ride or too scared to try it. What more can you want from a ride? For a thrill ride you'll never forget, check out the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Try not to wet your pants!

Here are my thoughts on the other rides at the park:

  • The Indiana Jones Stunt Show always entertains me even though I've seen it half a dozen times now.
  • Sounds Dangerous should be renamed to Sounds Tiresome. I like Drew Carey, but I can't help but get sleepy when it's pitch black and nothing really going on.
  • Star Tours, as usual, was also one I loved. It's definately showing it's age nowadays, but the queue is even entertaining as you wait patiently.
  • Muppet Vision 3D is fairly entertaining for those of us who grew up watching them.
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid provided a nice nap for a bit.
  • Studios Backlot Tour was entertaining enough for me not to fall asleep just about.
  • The Great Movie Ride well, the live actor was entertaining enough, but the ride itself is fairly uneventful.
This is a park that could do with one more major attraction on the far side.

That's it for today...tomorrow I may discuss the Water Park...or Downtown Disney...or the shows, I don't know, but it'll be something, bye!
