Weekend with grandma
I had not seen my grandma in quite some time so I thought it would be a good idea for me and my sister to go visit her. I called my sister, Chelsea, to make sure she didn’t have any plans for the weekend and then I called my grandma to make sure she was going to be home. We were good to go! Thursday night I packed my things so I would be ready to go on Friday. So right after work on Friday night Chelsea and I loaded up the trunk and we were on our way to New Smyrna Beach!
I slept the whole way up there, but we finally pulled in her driveway about an hour and a half later. My grandma was so excited to see us (Chelsea and I are her favorite grand kids). She gave us our hugs and kisses and then helped us bring our things into the house; she made fun of us while we were bringing the luggage into the house because it looked like we were staying for weeks but really it was only for two days (you can never bring too many clothes, you never know what could happen). Chelsea and I were starving, it’s a good thing my grandma knows us too well because she already had food ready for us. We had grilled chicken, tomatoes and cucumbers and for dessert we had fruit salad. YUMMY! Grandma always makes the best food! After we ate, we sat, talked, laughed, reminisced and had a good time hanging out with grandma. It was around midnight and we knew we were going to the beach in the morning so we all decided to go to bed.
I got up around nine and Chelsea got up shortly after, so around 9:45 we headed out the door to the beach. You can see the beach from the house (but my sister and I are lazy), so we drove to the beach, which was a whole 30 seconds. We laid down our towels and put on some suntan lotion and laid in the sun to bake. It was hot out there, but the water felt really good!! For lunch we ate sandwiches and fruit. Chelsea and I wanted to bury grandma in the sand but she wasn’t having that, HAHA, it was worth a try. Around 2:00 we decided we had been out there long enough, so we loaded the stuff back in the car and we drove to Flagler Avenue, which is downtown New Smyrna. I wanted ice cream, so we went to Treats on the Beach, which has excellent ice cream. After that we walked around and looked in all the surf shops and the other stores there. We left there around 5:00 and went back to the house. My grandma loves to go line dancing and she said that she was going out that night, so she hopped in the shower and I took a power nap. I got up at 7:00 and my sister and I decided that we were going to go out for the night since our grandma went out. We got our showers taken and got all dressed up and headed towards Melbourne. I knew there was a country club up there called County Line, I heard it was a fun place to go and I had never been there so I thought we would go try it out. So we finally get up there and get in and what do you know, we see people that we know, that made it even more fun. So we are in a country bar, what do you do at a country bar….. line dance. Chelsea and I don’t line dance, but it was fun to try. Actually, it was hilarious!! I know we looked like dorks, but its ok it was fun. We had old guys hitting on us but the guys we knew there kept them away. We finally left there a little after one, and when we got home grandma was just getting there also. My grandma went right to sleep and Chelsea and I put on out bathing suits and walked down to the beach and went swimming in the ocean. We got back to the house around three and went right to sleep.
The next day we got up around 10 and we decided we wanted to go to Cocoa Beach. We got there around lunch time so we went to a seafood place and ate lots of crab legs. MMMM! After we were done we went down to the beach for a few hours and around 3:00 my grandma wanted to leave (we had driven separately so we could stay), so we went to the car with her gave her hugs and kisses and she went on her way. After she left Chelsea and I went to Coconuts on the Beach. There were a bunch of people there we knew. So we hung out with them till about 7 and then we finally headed home. By 9:00 I was out for the night.
