TANNING 101:FLORIDA STYLE

Florida is probably the #1 thought of place to beach at in the United States. If you live here you get the privilege to tan all the time. Just yesterday I was lying out by my pool basking in the summer rays and today I’m a lovely red brown. I would just be tan but I never put on sun screen. For people like me I never have to pay much attention to wearing it as I rarely burn anyways. But people who are WHITE white they can turn from milk to tomato in a few hours. Ouches. Here are tips and such for tanning to perfection.

TIPS:
1. Make sure you keep track of the time. Bring a cell phone or a watch to make sure you don’t fall asleep accidentally for too long on one side.

2. Just laying and sleeping isn’t the best way to tan. Bring along a friend and chat up on gossip. You could also listen to your ipod and read your latest novel or Vogue magazine.

3. Lay on a towel. Even if you’re lying on a chair. Your gonna sweat. And hot guys may be near. You’ll thank me later.

4. Bring water. When you tan you sweat. When you sweat you lose water. Your body is 75% water. Since you got that much water I’m guessing you need it. So when you lose water, you have to put it in again. Like gas in a car or whatever. Plus it’s a good way to cool off. (Oh and if you wanna lose a couple lbs then go in a sauna and don’t drink all your water back it. You lose water weight. Just don’t be an idiot and get dehydrated and end up in a hospital. You might have to go to counseling for chronic health issues for trying to lose weight or something. Not cool.) Sodas and foo foo drinks like Pena coladas won’t re-hydrate you. Stick with water.

5. Don’t bring extra food. Unless your going to be gone all day of course. But if you’re just outside your house or something don’t bring munchies. You’ll end up eating constantly and if you lay and eat you don’t digest right and you’ll be gaining unneeded weight.

6. If you start to feel really really hot then take a quick dip in the pool or go inside to cool off. You don’t have to suffer major heat rushes to get the tan look.

7. Make sure all band aids, jewelry, tattoos, anything is off. You’ll get a tan line from it. Not too cute.

8. Make sure to lie on your sides too. Sometimes the way the sun hits you you’ll be tan on your front, tan on your back, and then when you lift up your arms from your side you’ll see a white stripe. Also not too cute.

9. Be careful for sunglasses tan lines too!

10. Get up and walk around some. Your body gets into a lazy trance. And a little exercise never hurt anyone.

Who ever said that something like tanning couldn't be an art? This takes work and practice. And it’s dangerous. Too much sun can lead to skin cancer. What’s even scarier is that skin cancer is the most common kind of cancer in the United States and lucky us, we live here. Here are tips to help prevent skin cancer from a skin cancer center:

TIPS:
1. Reduce sun exposure especially between hours from 11 to 4. But those are the best hours to tan. Oops….I guess don’t tan too often then.

2. Shade your skin. Wear sunglasses and suntan lotion and such.

3. Beware of clouds. Don’t let them fool you. Clouds don’t hide you from the sun. 80% of the rays will still hit you.

4. Remember about reflection. Umm I don’t understand that one.

5. Slop on the sunscreen. Use it. It’s your friend. Well kind of. I hope you have others because that would just be weird. No offense to anyone.

6. Avoid tanning salons. They use up to 5 times as mush UVA radiation then natural sunlight. It can cause premature ageing of the skin, so don’t do. Unless you are going for the “I’m 57” look. This kind of light is the main cause of sunburn and skin cancer.

7. Protect kids. The younger, the more vulnerable.

8. Check moles, beauty marks, and freckles for and new growth, discoloration, or a sore that doesn’t heal. As gross as that sounds.

Yeah that list was weird and you probably won't do most of it but hey, this thing needed to sound more factual and professional. Make sure to check the beaches article. It talks about best beaches in the Florida area and how to turn a bankruptcy vacation from down under(and I'm not talking about Australia) to a money friendly memory maker.

oh, in case you were wondering or if your a vegan/vegetarian/animal lover person, no animals were harmed in this study. haha this isn't even a study.

=) enjoy your summer and soak up the sun.
