Profit margins are up for Universal Orlando

Contrary to public tourism groups, profits are up for the second year in a row in the face of declining attendance which fell some 11 percent in 2005. Although attendance has fallen, profits for 2006 of $42 million where up from $35 million in 2005 according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Universal has been able to offset the slide in attendance by increasing the cost in diversified areas such as merchandise and food. Universal's total tally of visitors for 2006 was approximately 11.2 million due to a weak first and third quarter.

Universal has been able to maintain the momentum with two of its attractions Halloween Horror Nights and iVillage Live. Increases were not international but national from Caribbean, South America, Florida, and other U.S. places
