Disney’s rights to the Winnie the Pooh Character
Under copyright law, Steven Slesinger Inc. still maintains the rights to Winnie the Poor character which were acquired in 1930. Since then for sixteen years, Disney’s illustrator Ernest Shepard and or constituents have tried to appropriate those rights for ambitious reasons. The latest ruling by the honorable district Judge Florence-Marie Cooper ruled that Disney and the granddaughter of Mr. Shepard can not challenge Slesinger to the legitimacy of a 1983 licensing agreement.
